Individual Therapy

When thinking about our emotional development, I find contrasting it with our physical development to be particularly helpful for gaining insight. Developing into our full-grown physical selves is a fairly automatic process that relies primarily upon our biology and natural maturation. In stark contrast, our emotional growth requires significant guidance, attention and nurturing from caregivers to help develop us into our full-grown emotional selves. For some individuals, this essential emotional development was either absent or significantly short-circuited, leaving us to navigate a complex world of relationships and uncertainty without the emotional intelligence necessary to recognize, understand and effectively manage our emotions.

In individual therapy, we will collaborate closely to master the essential skills needed to navigate life transitions, relationships, anxiety and conflict in emotionally healthy and constructive ways. We will also focus on enhancing your emotional intelligence, which will better equip you to guide healthier responses to your feelings and experiences.
